German/Newzealander artist Sandro Kopp is painting different people on Skype; everyone from his friends to the more famous personalities. You can somehow see the quality of Skype and how it is not perfect because that other person moves all the time and the video quality is changing a lot. The paintings are done during a Skype-session with the other persons modeling for him. It takes him about 3-5 hours to finish one piece, and the models have to sit for so long. The lighting and pixels are unpredictable so that is what makes the results so interesting. Among the celebrities you can see Tilda Swinton and John C. Reilly. Total sitters are 36 and they are all exhibited in the Not s Still Frame exhibition. Something that can remind of these paintings is Scott Wade’s dusty windshield drawings. Related posts: |
