Love is…

Originally created by Kim Casali as a way of expressing her feelings for her husband, Roberto, the Love is… characters and sentiments grew into the famous Love is… syndicated panels of the little naked boy and girl, first launched in The Los Angeles Times in 1970.
Kim Casali died in June 1997. Since then, her son Stefano Casali has maintained the strip although it is always shown as “by Kim Casali” and signed “Kim” instead of Stefano. He remained in his regular occupation in advertising until September 1999 when he devoted his full time to the strip, working with Bill Asprey who sketches the characters. Bill Asprey was picked by Kim Casali in 1975 to write and draw daily panels of Love is… and, he is doing it ’till now. And, I remember these cartoon characters from my childhood: my mom had a whole book of them! Kim have captured the simplicity in pure love – it’s all about the small things really.
