These Will Make You Cry

I am sure that there are times when you do feel like watching a human interest and real movie that deals with pain and loss. Some of the best movies in terms of storyline and cinematography, deals with raw human emotions and which are sure to bring tears in your eyes. From Schindler’s List that deals with the Holocaust to Boys Don’t Cry that has a young trans gender man as its protagonist who is raped and then murdered by his male friends. There are many sad, but really good movies that you can watch. Here I will present to you a selection of the saddest movies I’ve saw.

The Green Mile (1999)

Director: Frank Darabont
Stars: Tom Hanks, Michael Clarke Duncan, David Morse, Bonnie Hunt
This is an incredibly powerful and sad movie, if you don’t burst into tears by the end you aren’t human! First time I’ve seen it I’ve wept like a baby! Damn, what a masterpiece!

Titanic (1997)

Director: James Cameron
Stars: Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, Billy Zane, Kathy Bates.
The favorite film of all girls. Titanic broke all their hearts and keeps a piece still. 11 Academy Awards, highest grossing film ever. ‘My Heart Will Go On’ is great soundtrack, even though I don’t like Celine.

Requiem for a Dream (2000)

Director: Darren Aronofsky
Stars: Ellen Burstyn, Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly, Marlon Wayans
Incredible Darren Aronofsky show us the drug-induced utopias of four Coney Island individuals shattered when their addictions become stronger. I actually didn’t cry, but I was astonished and speechless at the movie’s end.

One of the saddest, moving, masterpiece films I have ever seen. Once watched it will be locked in your memory forever holding the key, awaiting your return.

Boys Don’t Cry (1999)

Director: Kimberly Peirce
Stars: Hilary Swank, Chloë Sevigny, Peter Sarsgaard, Brendan Sexton III
The story of the life of Brandon Teena, a transgendered teen who preferred life in a male identity until it was discovered he was born biologically female. I will not spoil the movie, but you have to know that is very touching and upsetting movie.

Schindler’s List (1993)

Schindler’s List (1993)
Director: Steven Spielberg
Stars: Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Kingsley, Caroline Goodall
Spielberg’s ultimate masterpiece, a profoundly shocking, disturbing film, like the nightmare that was the Holocaust. With amazing cast like this, this movie was condemned to success.

Braveheart (1995)

Director: Mel Gibson
Stars: Mel Gibson, Sophie Marceau and Patrick McGoohan
William Wallace unites the 13th Century Scots in their battle to overthrow English rule. A story of betrayal, intrigue, love, sad, shocking – one of the best films in general, not just the saddest; and one of my favorite of all time!

Million Dollar Baby (2004)

Director: Clint Eastwood
Stars: Hilary Swank, Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman
I really have nothing to say about Clint – the man had a phenomenal acting career, but as a director  he is even better! He plays hardened trainer who works with a determined woman in her attempt to establish herself as a boxer. The end is shocking, I know that I just couldn’t stop the tears.

I Am Sam (2001)

Director: Jessie Nelson
Stars: Sean Penn, Michelle Pfeiffer, Dakota Fanning, Dianne Wiest
Sean Penn as a mentally retarded man fights for custody of his 7-year-old daughter, and in the process teaches his cold-hearted lawyer the value of love and family. Doubtless, anyone who has children will be at least upset.

Marley & Me (2008)

Director: David Frankel
Stars: Owen Wilson, Jennifer Aniston, Eric Dane
I’m not a big fan of movies about animals though I really love them, especially dogs, but this one is really good. A dog doesn’t care if you’re rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or dull. Give him your heart and love and he will return at least twice – because their love is pure and uncorrupted!
