The tropic is a region of Earth surrounding the Equator and the subtropics zone of Earth is immediately north as well as south of the tropical zone. Many species are in decline, and several are extinct. Furthermore, a 130 out of 350 living species are listed threatened by the IUCN (Red List of Threatened Species). There are several reasons for the decline of so many species, the major threats are habitual loss and degradation, hunting, and for certain species the wild-bird trade. Parrots are also persecuted because, in some areas, they are hunted for food and feathers and as agricultural pests. source Moreover, one of the reasons that parrots are popular as pets today, is their sociable and flectional nature, intelligence, bright colours and the ability to imitate human voices. The most popular of all pet bird species is a small parrot, the domesticated Budgerigal in United States. The Budgerigal is also knows as a Common Pet Parakeet (or Shell Parakeet) and nicknamed the budgie. The bird is small, long-tailed, and the only specie in the Australian genus. They may be green and yellow – black and sometimes white and blue. Budgies are popular pets around the world because they are small in size, cheap  and have the ability to impersonate human speech.  In addition, Europeans keep birds matching the description of the Rose- ringed parakeet (also called the ring-necked parrot). The rose-ringed parakeet (or Ringnecked Parakeet) is a specie with an extremely large range, and was evaluated as being of least concern by IUCN in 2009. Furthermore, this parrot is heavily populated in India, in a number of European cities , South Africa, Japan , in the US ( Hawaii, California, Florida). This bird can also be found in Lebanon, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Tunisia and Iran. source One of the largest organizations whose goal is to conserve the wild parrot population is the World Parrot Trust. The organization gives assistance to related projects, as well as producing a magazine and raising funds through donations and memberships, often from pet parrot owners.
